As far as our records go, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) has been organising open house events since 1995, that translates into 27 Open House(s). At NAFA Open House, which usually lasts two days on a Friday and a Saturday, members of the public and students are cordially invited to the event.

Making the right choice, for you
There will be exhibitions, art-related talks, art demonstrations, dance and music performances, education, and career consultations. Here, potential students can find out all they need to know about their programme of choice. At the scholarship booth, do check out the offerings of scholarships, merit awards, bursaries and where to apply for study loans.

“Collaborations and partnerships with the industry can provide exponential learning and exposure for NAFA’s students/creatives when they make real-world connections.”

Faculty members from eight comprehensive programmes spanning Fine Art, 3D Design, Arts Management, Dance, Design & Media, Fashion Studies, Music, and Theatre will be present to guide and inform potential students in making the right choices – to choose the right Diploma or Degree programme. Having this information at your fingertips, think along these points to make a sound decision on your journey ahead:

  • Know which courses are open to you based on your qualifications
  • Have an idea of your strengths and skills vis-a-vis your interests
  • Identify the career you want, your path to success, and its value to society
  • Find out about NAFA’s available programs, course content and modes of learning
  • Costs and financial schemes available
  • On-campus facilities and amenities

Most importantly, the intangible “X factor” – Do you feel at home with NAFA, and have you found your tribe?

“Such moments like these would always bring a warm feeling to my heart and put a smile on my face. In times like this, I feel a sense of pride to be associated with the oldest arts institution in Singapore.”

Warmth and energy at NAFA’s Open House
Our bubbly and spirited Student Ambassadors will be on site to lead guided tours of our three campuses. Although our buildings have been said to be plain, do not let outward appearances fool you - the teaching and learning facilities within will impress you with the state-of-the-art technologies that provide the platform for NAFA’s passionate educators to guide our talents.

During the process of planning, setup, and execution of the Open House; the NAFA team comprising staff and students work together tirelessly, bonding over this annual event of the academy, fostering a collegiate environment. I have observed how colleagues, teaching staff and administration staff, work together to rally our students in preparing their artworks, their performance pieces; putting up their best works to be displayed at Open House.

Credit also needs to be given to our Student Ambassadors who will bring our guests around the campuses, enthusiastically sharing about their experience in the Academy. Such moments like these would always bring a warm feeling to my heart and put a smile on my face. In times like this, I feel a sense of pride to be associated with the oldest arts institution in Singapore.

Now, back to the title of this article “Welcome to My Home”. In my 18 years in NAFA, I have heard at various occasions, colleagues, students, and graduates, say that they consider NAFA their home away from home. And their reasons?

“Oh, I spend so much of my time in NAFA; working, studying, eating, hanging out here. I think I spend more time at NAFA than at home!”

“I spend so much time in the studio and workshop, perfecting my artwork, I forget whether it’s day or night!”

“I made all my good friends in NAFA, some of us even started companies together!”
