GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP AWARD
Students who are pursuing the NAFA-RCM Master of Performance or Master of Composition course may apply for the Graduate Assistantship Award.
Award Quantum:$18,000/year
($15,000 of the award quantum will be allocated
to cover part of the tuition fees per year. The remaining $3,000 will be disbursed in a form of a stipend over a period of 10 months @$300/month)
How to qualify:
- Full-time postgraduate student from the NAFA-RCM Master of Performance or Master of Composition course
- Graduated with minimum Upper 2nd Classification from a relevant undergraduate degree course
- Good audition results
- Excellent track record in musical achievements, e.g. won prizes in international and/or local music competitions. Demonstration of community participation/performance in public concerts and festivals etc would be an advantage.
Service obligations:Recipient must fulfil 8 hours of service per week with the School of Music during the year of award.
Depending on the recipient’s principal study, service may be offered in the following areas:
- accompanying (up to 4 hours per week)
- teaching assistant (up to 5 hours of teaching duties as assistant in diploma programme)
- research (up to 8 hours)
- playing in an ensemble/orchestra (up to 6 hours)
The award will be considered for renewal for the second year upon meeting the minimum academic performance stipulated by the School of Music and fulfilling the conditions of the service obligations.
