Dr Ernest Lim is Dean of the Faculty of Performing Arts at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), University of the Arts Singapore. He provides academic and artistic leadership across the Schools of Music, Dance and Theatre, overseeing the faculty’s teaching, creative practice and strategic development.

An educator and cultural leader, Dr Lim is committed to advancing artistically rigorous and accessible arts education. He has led key academic and institutional initiatives, including the development of the Bachelor of Music (Hons) joint degree with the Royal College of Music (London), the Bachelor of Education (Hons) in Instrumental and Vocal Teaching, and the Master of Performance programme. He also oversees the delivery and continued development of the BA (Hons) Contemporary Chinese Theatres programme, while supporting diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate pathways across the Faculty.

Dr Lim has strengthened NAFA’s partnerships with leading conservatoires and cultural organisations, including the Royal College of Music, Central Conservatory of Music, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Singapore Chinese Orchestra, Singapore International Festival of Arts, and Arts House Limited. His research focuses on intercultural studies, pedagogy, and curriculum design, with publications in the International Journal of Music Education and Education Sciences.
