  • Biography

Professor Chong Keng Hua is Provost and Vice President (Academic) at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), University of the Arts Singapore. He provides strategic academic leadership for the Academy, advancing interdisciplinary art and design education, research and innovation while fostering an inclusive learning environment. His work bridges academia, industry and policy to shape people-centric and climate-positive urban futures.

A designer, urbanist, researcher and educator, Prof Chong has a PhD in Architecture and is recognised for his work in social architecture, specialising in evidence-based design, participatory community design, nature placemaking, and healthy ageing. He has published widely on these topics, including three notable books: Creative Ageing Cities (2018), Second Beginnings (2018), and Data-driven Smart Community Design (2025). He is currently working on a new book - How to Communityze.

Beyond academia, Prof Chong is also founding partner of COLOURS: Collectively Ours, a design consultancy specialising in public space and social impact. He actively translates research into design interventions, garnering multiple international awards for their innovative and impactful solutions to eldercare and integration of wellness into community spaces. He has curated major exhibitions, including the Singapore Pavilions at the Seoul Biennale 2017 and Venice Biennale 2018, and directed Singapore Archifest 2020. His contributions to education, public service and community were recognised with the National Award Public Administration Medal (Bronze) in 2024.
