Art and Alchemy: Chieu Shuey Fook

Born in Singapore in 1934, Chieu Shuey Fook graduated from NAFA with a Diploma in Western Painting in 1953. He is most known for his colourful metal reliefs and abstract iconography of playful forms.

Art and Alchemy: Chieu Shuey Fook features a collection of works ranging from modern batik, zinc etchings and metal reliefs to specially commissioned works spanning the artist's remarkable career from the 1960s onwards. The book also includes essays by Dr Bridget Tracy Tan, Director, Institute of Southeast Asian Arts and Art Galleries, NAFA, Sarah Ng, Research Executive, Institute of Southeast Asian Arts, NAFA, Zou Lu, and Ian Findlay-Brown, Founding Publisher and Editor, Asian Art News and World Sculpture News, all of whom provide insights into the artist's life and art-making sensibilities.
