Passion in Living - Paintings of Indonesia General Studies Module (in collaboration with SOAD Foundation Programme)

20, 21, 22 and 25 September 2018
The Ngee Ann Kongsi Galleries 1 & 2

In collaboration with the SOAD (School of Art and Design) Foundation Programme, 211 Year 1 students from 6 General Studies I classes were given a structured tour of the exhibition 'Passion in Living – Paintings of Indonesia by Low Hai Hong' by Dr Bridget Tracy Tan, Director of the Institute of Southeast Asian Arts and Art Galleries at NAFA.

Students were introduced to the second generation Nanyang artist, his practice, use of oil as his primary medium and content specific to the works on display. Guided questions by ISEAA were provided for students to aid them in  approaching and analysing the exhibited artworks.

The outcome of the tour will see students independently researching on the artist and artworks in the exhibition to each produce an art journal as part of their module assessment. Lecturers-in-charge also attended the tours and acted as ambassador tutors for the other classes, which saw 332 students in attendance.
