The making of NDP 2017 with NAFA’s stars

At this year’s National Day Parade (NDP), several of NAFA’s students, staff and alumni played a big part in making Singapore’s 52nd birthday a success.

Goh Boon Teck, NAFA alumnus and Chief Artistic Director of local theatre company, Toy Factory Productions, took the reins as the NDP’s Creative Director, putting together an excellent show which showcased the strength and determination of Singaporeans. In addition, NAFA alumnus, local designer and part-time Fashion Studies lecturer Max Tan was the official costume designer for the NDP, creating costumes for this year’s performers together with designer Yuan Zhiying. NAFA alumni Julie Tan and Joakim Gomez also took centre stage as two of the four hosts of this year’s parade.

Four of NAFA’s Diploma in Arts Management students also played a huge role in ensuring the parade was possible. During their internship with production company Picasso International Productions, the four – Alwin Goh, Liyana Binte Rosaini, Pamela Tan and Muhammad Aleem Bin Mohamed Fawzaini – took on the roles of Project Coordinators for the parade. They assisted in overseeing the building of the parade’s main platform and main stages, and were also assigned to operate the revolving and hydraulic stages during the actual show. Volunteering at the NDP for the fourth time this year, administrative officer for NAFA’s Arts Management programme, Bernadette Yongco Cruz, also lent her help to the production company during the parade.
