Born in 1943 in Singapore, Han Sai Por is a graduate of NAFA, East Ham College of Art and Lincoln University of New Zealand. She received the Cultural Medallion Award in 1995, the nation’s highest accolade for artists and the NAFA Distinguished Alumni Medal in 2011. In 2013, NAFA commissioned  a sequel installation that continued the narrative of “Black Forest” staged at the Esplanade in 2011. In this exhibition, Han proposed a multiple media installation that transformed the space to invoke a sense of foreboding; a commentary on Man’s interventions and destructive impact on the environment through original sculpture, drawings and video.

This work was featured in the exhibition Han Sai Por: Black Forest 2013. Donated by the artist, Han Sai Por for Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Collection.
