Alvin Tan

Alvin Tan attained a Diploma in Fine Art from NAFA in 2000. He subsequently went on to study at the National Art School Sydney, Australia and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Fine Art (Ceramics) in 2006 and a Master of Visual Arts from the Australian National University, Canberra in 2011. His work has been featured both locally and abroad, and collected by both private and corporate institutions such as The Australian Institute of Architects, The Canberra School of Arts, and Ngee Ann Kongsi.

For a Better Tomorrow combines sgrafitto, a scratching technique, and colour treatment to produce outline drawings on the surface. This piece represents an observation of the artist's surroundings; a departure from his usual process-based thinking to a more narrative one.

This work was acquired for Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Collection in 2014.
