Roles and Responsibilities
Teaching
- Oversee course management and delivery of postgraduate modules, providing research and studio skills.
- Deliver 18-24 contact/teaching hours per week, demonstrating strong pedagogical competence; in Bachelor’s Degree and/or Masters, including studio, research knowledge, and industry practices.
- Support Fine Art studio modules (Diploma), including theory and Industry-based Learning, as needed.
- Contribute to curriculum development, program reviews, and learning material design.
- Supervise and assess student projects.
- Monitor and guide students’ learning progress, performance, and career advisement.
- Provide pastoral care and support, with strong empathy for learners' well-being.
Planning & Administration
- Provide effective administrative coordination, clear communication, and strategic planning support across faculty teams to ensure seamless collaboration and operational efficiency.
- Organize artist talks, residencies, trips, seminars, conferences, exhibitions, and events.
Industry Practice
- Establish and maintain industry and institutional links to integrate academic and industry practices
Requirements
The ideal candidate should possess a PhD in a relevant field, with a strong record of professional practice and research, and at least five years of teaching experience at the university level or within the contemporary art and/or design industry. A proven ability to work across disciplines and a demonstrated interest or portfolio focused on the Southeast Asia context are essential.
Candidates must show a track record in research, knowledge exchange, or professional practice that advances Fine Art and aligns with the Academy’s goals. Effective and innovative pedagogical methods for postgraduate teaching are required, along with a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusivity in all aspects of teaching, assessment, and feedback.
Strong communication skills in English and proficiency in a second language are necessary. The role also demands a positive, enthusiastic, and inspiring approach to student engagement, as well as the ability to collaborate respectfully and effectively within diverse professional teams.
