Joyce joins Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts with many years of experience in academia and arts management. She has previously led the Diploma in Arts and Theatre Management programme at Republic Polytechnic and the Diploma in Arts Management programme at LASALLE College of the Arts. She was one of the pioneer staff of The Esplanade Co. Ltd., previously known as the Singapore Arts Centre Company.

Besides being a dedicated educator, Joyce is a passionate musician, composer, researcher and ethnomusicologist. Best known for her efforts in developing an interest in Gamelan and Asian Music among Singaporeans and abroad, Joyce has been invited to compose for dance, theatre, film and other events. She had also been invited to teach gamelan in universities in Australia and Thailand.

Joyce has composed, directed and performed at various local and international festivals including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Yogyakarta Gamelan Festival, Singapore Arts Festival and the opening festivals for The Esplanade and The Arts House.

Joyce is currently an advisor and mentor to BronzAge Gamelan Ensemble and external assessor for the National Arts Council.
