Gillian has an illustrious dance career - she began dancing professionally with the People’s Association Dance Company (one of Singapore’s pioneering dance company) under the artistic direction of Lim Fei Shen. In 1995, Gillian was appointed Production Executive and Stage Manager for the Singapore Dance Theatre. Subsequently, she set up a company, Dancers In Collaboration, as an outreach dance programme. In that same year, she was appointed as Technique Tutor for the National University of Singapore Dance Synergy and Artistic Advisor for the annual Exxon-Mobil Campus Concert at NUS. Concurrently, she was also the instructor and choreographer for the Nanyang Polytechnic Dance Company for 8 years.

In 2001, she spearheaded the course module Dance Production at the Arts Management and Dance Department of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). In 2009, she participated in the Dance New York International in Paris. Her work ‘Restless’ was performed in Espace Paris Plaine. In that same year, her work ‘Incense’ was presented in the White Wave-Dumbo Festival at the John Ryan Theatre in New York. For more than a decade, Gillian has been actively involved in the development of the dance scene in various aspects and she continues to serve on one of the advisory committees at the National Arts Council.

Gillian is currently the Deputy Head of the Dance Department at NAFA.
