The Next Generation returns to the da:ns festival with two notable festival artists working closely with students from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and LASALLE College of the Art in a one-week creative residency respectively. With a strong focus on the process, the students get a chance to learn movement phrases from each artist and co-create with them as they get introduced to different creative practices, philosophies and movement styles.
As part of the creative residency, NAFA students will be engaged in high-energy technique classes as well as be exposed to creative practices by Eileih Muir from Studio Wayne McGregor, founded by award-winning British choreographer, Wayne McGregor. Students will create new materials with the assistance of McGregor’s unique creative methods, tasks and exercises.
This session will be a casual and informal sharing of the creative residency. Audiences will get to hear about the interactions and exchanges between the festival artists and students in between presentations of the works-in-progress.
Join in the conversation between the artists, students, educators and other audience members to learn more about the process of the residency!
