Specialist Certificate in Photography

Introduction

Applicants may attend any of the 3 Specialist courses which are Digital Imaging, Conceptual Photography and Conceptual People Photography.

Terms and Conditions

Learners will be presented a Specialist Certificate upon successful completion of each course.

Digital Imaging (10 sessions x 3 hours)

This course equips learners with in-depth knowledge and skills in digital imaging. Learners will be taught various techniques in applying creative digital imaging via non-destructive methods on their photographs. They will further improve their photography skills in photo repair, retouching and manipulation techniques using Adobe Photoshop applications.

Conceptual Photography (10 sessions x 3 hours)

This course equips learners with the ability to synthesise concepts and further enhance their technical skills in the field of professional commercial photography. Learners will use a variety of elements and props to create different moods using professional digital SLR cameras. In the process, they will learn to apply lighting techniques and advance digital image manipulation techniques to achieve optimal results. At the end of the course, learners will be able to convey a powerful message through photography using a few basic elements.

Conceptual People Photography (10 sessions x 3 hours)

This course is designed to prepare learners with the essential knowledge and skills to design and produce an inspired photo book. Learners will be taught digital photography techniques, shooting, image processing and retouching of images. The final edited images can be applied in the areas of advertising, magazines and design related projects.

Applicants must be 17 years old and above.

Prerequisites for Registration of Course

Digital Imaging
For learners who have successfully completed both Certificate in Photography and Certificate in Studio Photography.

Conceptual Photography
For learners who have successfully completed Certificate in Studio Photography.

Conceptual People Photography
For learners who have successfully completed Certificate in Studio Photography.

Subsidies

SkillsFuture Credit
All Singaporeans aged 25 and above can use their $500 SkillsFuture Credit from the government to pay for a wide range of approved skills-related courses. Visit the SkillsFuture Credit website (www.skillsfuture.sg/credit) to choose from the courses available on the Training Exchange course directory.

National Silver Academy
Applicable to Singaporean seniors aged 50 and above who will receive a subsidy of 50% off the course fee (capped at $500 per course). Please note that the subsidy will only apply to the course fee and will not cover GST.

Cheques should be crossed and made payable to the 'Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts' and send to:
80 Bencoolen Street (S) 189655. The student's name, NRIC/Passport number and contact number must be written on the reverse side of the cheque.

Refund of Fees

Withdrawal within 14 days before the course commencement date Course fee^ will be refunded after deduction of S$107.00 as administrative charges.
Withdrawal on or after course commencement date
No refund will be given.
^Registration fees and miscellaneous fees are non-refundable.

Cancellation/ Postponement

  • NAFA reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course without prior notice.
    In the event that the class is unable to proceed due to unforeseen circumstances, NAFA will process a full refund of the course fees.

Withdrawal/ Deferment/ Transfer

  • Withdrawal or deferment requests should be made in writing with supporting relevant documents (if any) to Centre for Lifelong Education. Request for deferment is subject to approval.
  • No deferment is allowed once the course has commenced.
  • No transfer of course upon registration.

Replacement of Classes

  • There is strictly no replacement lesson should the participant absent himself/herself from the course.

The Academy reserves the right to alter the rules and regulations, course contents, class schedule and fee structures without prior notice.

Part-time Certificate courses (July 2019 Intake) will be commencing in the week of 8 July 2019
