Certificate in Visual Merchandising (Experiential Spatial Design)

Experiential design is an effective way to engage and intrigue today's audience. With the rising popularity of pop-up shops, events and product launches in the offline environment, marketers and business owners will need to adopt more than just online strategies in brand building and visual merchandising. In this course, learners will better understand various strategies and insights in crafting unique experiential spatial designs. They will also explore and apply relevant software applications to create their designs.

Module 1 - Visual Design Principles in Experiential Spatial Design
(8 sessions x 3 hours) – Teaching Mode: Face to face on campus
This module equips learners with an understanding of creative and science-driven layout design behind retail spaces, pop-up stores and various points of sale. Learners will also gain insights into 'customers' shopping behaviour and acquire the skills to optimise design principles of retail stores and service environments to increase customer satisfaction and sales. This module prepares learners for the next step towards creating a unique experiential spatial design.

Module 2 - Experiential Spatial Design Studio
(8 sessions x 3 hours) – Teaching Mode: Online via Zoom
This module introduces basic design theory and 3D modelling to create concepts for aesthetically attractive spatial designs to create exciting consumer brands. Learners will create their designs from earlier studies and specifications. They will be able to explore various materials, lighting and textures in rendering a realistic and convincing spatial design proposal.

Our Trainers

 

Daniel Toh Tiong Hai

Daniel Toh is an adjunct lecturer at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). He has 20 years of industry experience in product and industrial design and over five years of experience in exhibition and project management with Pico Art. He specialises in projects related to visual merchandising, graphic design, product development, build-up/structural construction and communications.

Daniel holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Economics and Management conferred by University of London and a 'Master's in Design degree conferred by Domus Academy, Milan. In addition to teaching with NAFA, Daniel teaches core technical and creative skills related to product and interior design with other local institutions in Singapore.



Wilson Du Weisheng

Wilson Du is currently based in Singapore and teaches design at various design institutions. He has worked as a designer in Sydney, Australia, for the past five years upon graduating from the University of New South Wales.

To Wilson, learning today is vastly different from the past, as people around the world are hacking skills and enhancing personal development via more efficient means. Wilson feels that these methods could sometimes be game changers, and he can't help but observe that learning itself is undergoing a paradigm shift. Wilson is enthusiastic about it and is glad to be a part of this industry.
