Muhammad Nhawfal Bin Juma'at

Nhawfal makes conceptual artworks, including paintings, photos and drawings. His works directly respond to the surrounding environment and use everyday experiences from the artist as a starting point. Often these are framed instances that would go unnoticed in their original context.

With an attitude of a bricoleur, Nhawfal acknowledges the potentiality of space qua-object and expands it. The abstract visual language of his aesthetics uses shape, form, colour and lines to create a composition that may exist independently from visual references in this world.

Nhawfal has exhibited extensively in Singapore. In conjunction with 2018’s Singapore Art Week, he was part of a group of young artists that exhibited in RAID, held at Tiong Bahru’s Air Raid Shelter. Nhawfal was also the artist and co-curator for The Lucky Show (2018) and RUANG (2017), held at temporal spaces in Singapore. In 2017, he exhibited in South Korea as part of the 10th  Asian Students Young Artist Arts Festival and A Surreal Vision at Millepiani, Rome, represented by Loosen Art.
