Certificate in Oil Painting (Advanced)

Introduction

This course is designed for learners to advance their skills in oil painting, with emphasis on portrait and figure painting. Learners will study proportions of the human anatomy through pencil sketches, drawing and detailed studies. This course will strengthen their understanding in principles of painting, enabling them to develop new ways of thinking, seeing and creating. Through their works, learners will aim to display likeness, personality, character and mood through various styles taught in this course. This course is recommended for learners who have successfully completed Certificate in Oil Painting (Intermediate).

Learners will be presented with a digital certificate upon successful completion of the course.

Module 1 - Portrait and Figure Drawing (8 sessions x 3 hours)

This module aims to provide learners with fundamental skills in portrait and figure drawing which are essential for progression to the next module. This module is designed to teach learners a variety of skills ranging from pencil shading to drawing. Learners will undertake a detailed study in figure drawing to appreciate proportions of the human anatomy and facial expressions. Successful completion of this module equips learners with greater confidence to approach oil painting techniques in the next module.

Module 2 - Portrait Oil Painting (8 sessions x 3 hours)

This module aims to equip learners with application techniques for combining colours, consistency in portrait drawing and oil painting. Additionally, learners will acquire better understanding of solvent to oil ratios required to create a variety of desired mixture outcomes.

Applicants must be 17 years old and above.

Course Prerequisite

For learners who have successfully completed Certificate in Oil Painting (Intermediate).

Subsidies

National Silver Academy
Applicable to Singaporean seniors aged 50 and above who will receive a subsidy of 50% off the course fee (capped at $500 per course). Please take note that the subsidy will only apply to the course fee and will not cover GST.

SkillsFuture Credit
All Singaporeans aged 25 and above can use their $500 SkillsFuture Credit from the government to pay for a wide range of approved skills-related courses. Visit the SkillsFuture Credit website (www.skillsfuture.sg/credit) to choose from the courses available on the Training Exchange course directory.

80 Bencoolen Street (S) 189655. The student's name, NRIC/Passport number and contact number must be written on the reverse side of the cheque.

Refund of Fees

Withdrawal before the course commencement date Course fee^ will be refunded after deduction of S$107.00 as administrative charges.
Withdrawal on or after course commencement date
No refund will be given.
^Application fees and miscellaneous fees are non-refundable.

Cancellation/ Postponement

  • NAFA reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course without prior notice.
    In the event that the class is unable to proceed due to unforeseen circumstances, NAFA will process a full refund of the course fees.

Withdrawal/ Deferment/ Transfer

  • Withdrawal or deferment requests should be made in writing with supporting relevant documents (if any) to Centre for Lifelong Education. Request for deferment is subject to approval.
  • No deferment is allowed once the course has commenced.
  • No transfer of course upon application.

Replacement of Classes

  • There is strictly no replacement lesson should the participant absent himself/herself from the course.

NAFA Centre for Lifelong Education reserves the right to reject any application under any circumstance. If we reject your application, we will refund any amount that has been paid in relation to the application that is rejected or voided without interest.
