Certificate in Interior Design (3D Visualisation)

This course introduces the fundamentals of 3-dimensional presentation skills using software programmes, manual drawing and rendering techniques. Learners will be taught to produce 3D drawings in colour and material presentation, leading to a drawing portfolio that is required in the interior design industry.

Module 1 - Fundamental Computer 3D Modelling
(8 sessions x 3 hours)

This module focuses on the use of 3-dimensional modelling programmes to create 3D visualisation. Learners will be able to use the software intuitively through a process of familiarisation and duplicating contemporary interior spaces.

Module Content:
  • Construct 3D models at a fundamental level.
  • Understand the use of components at a fundamental level.
  • Apply materials in 3D models at a fundamental level.
  • Add scenes/cameras in 3D models at a fundamental level.
  • Setup lights in 3D models at a fundamental level.
  • Render 3D models at a fundamental level.
Software: SketchUp

Module 2 - Perspective Construction and Rendering
(8 sessions x 3 hours)

This module aims to develop fundamental skills for learners to communicate visually in 3-dimensional perception. Learners will acquire skills in developing perspective construction and colour marker rendering of drawings.

Module Content:
  • Developing a foundation of art knowledge and skills, where ideas and concepts are communicated in writing, speaking and to create accurate and visually appealing designs.
  • Understanding of three-dimensional drawing of perspective and applications to render, adding depth and greater realism to the designs.

Our Trainers

Alex Chua Zhong Liang

Awarded the Future Leader Scholarship by LASALLE to pursue further studies in London, Alex Chua has many years of experience working in the commercial and residential design industry.

He believes every project must begin with a narrative that dictates the whole spatial experience and a great designer should create meaningful and poetic spaces for the user. He firmly believes in using computer hardware and software technology to explore design and spaces. By doing so, real physical spaces can be correctly translated and created from the mind of the designer.

David Tan Hock San

David Tan has more than 20 years of experience developing material for the design and media courses, specialising in interior and architectural drafting, design drawing, presentation and construction drawings, building elements and services.

He has extensive industry experience working with the government, statutory boards, architect firms and interior designing companies in areas of design and technical issues relating to interior and exterior buildings.

Scope of work included:
  • Working closely with clients to conceptualise and develop designs
  • Undertaking projects from submission to completion
  • Liaising with relevant government authorities, e.g. URA, BCA, MOE, FSB etc., on submission of drawings to comply with the requirements in obtaining COF
  • Liaising with other Q.P.s, e.g. Structural engineer, M&E engineer, licensed plumber etc. on building services.
  • Preparing tender drawings and doing periodic site supervision to ensure the works are properly carried out in accordance with the drawings

Leow Aik Kian

Leow Aik Kian is a multi-disciplinary designer and educator with 20 years of experience in projects ranging from graphic design, interior architecture, to event and exhibition design. His keen interest in photography has diversified his practice to include photography for architecture, interior, food, and events.

After graduation, Aik Kian joined JTC Corporation (JTC) as a Design and Development Manager for one-north, a 200-hectare mixed-use business park in Singapore. He was with JTC for 11 years and was instrumental in the planning, design, development, marketing, leasing, programming and place-making of numerous projects, which include Wessex Estate, one-north streetscape, Chip Bee Gardens, Mediapolis, Fusionopolis, Biopolis, Rochester Park and Gillman Barracks.

Aik Kian left JTC to pursue broader experiences and other areas of interest. He became a consultant for a private developer in commercial projects and was involved in design, marketing, leasing, and investment studies. Concurrently, Aik Kian was a trainer at a private management and training consultancy firm, delivering talks for adult learners in real estate planning, design and development. His audience included overseas delegates and officials from the Chinese Government.

Further, Aik Kian was a Senior Lecturer at the Nanyang Polytechnic School of Design. He designed and delivered academic programmes across all three full-time diplomas, spanning Space and Interior Design (which was renamed Spatial Design), Visual Communication Design, and Industrial Design.

Aik Kian was also actively involved in the national SkillsFuture programme. He developed the curriculum for one of the Specialist Diplomas and launched and administered two inaugural design-sector Earn and Learn Programmes (ELP).
