Certificate in Furniture Making
This course teaches learners safe machine and tool handling techniques, as well as wood working methods for the construction of (i) a table shelf and (ii) an ergonomically designed stool for offices and homes. Participants will learn wood working skills such as measuring and marking, cutting, veneering, assembly and finishing. They will have the opportunity to acquire these skills in a fully equipped woodworking workshop.
Module 1 - DIY Lifestyle Object
(8 sessions x 3 hours)
Learners will be introduced to the techniques of basic wood cutting, construction and finishing. They will be taught safety procedures when handling tools and machinery, and familiarisation of woodworking tools such as drills, power tools and accessible accessories. Using the skills acquired, learners will construct a functional table shelf.

Module 2 - Stool Making
(8 sessions x 3 hours)
Learners will construct an ergonomically designed stool. They will be taught relevant safety procedures when handling more advance tools and machinery. They will also be familiarised with woodworking tools such as drills, power tools and accessible accessories related to the construction of stools. Learners will acquire skills of cutting, tapering, shaping, veneering as well as varied techniques of stool finishing and sanding.
