Amanda Low

To Amanda, watercolour is an “organic” and spiritual painting medium. When pigments dissolve in water and flow freely on paper, the collision and rendering of colors create fascinating turns. The continuous emotions of surprise, excitement, encouragement and frustration during the process also give the picture a sense of emotional input and rational judgment.

Therefore, the completion of each painting marks the beginning of healing and growth. Flowers symbolize joy and happiness to Amanda and she loves their vibrant, colorful appearance. Nature is the best teacher, with plants’ varied and orderly postures making it the best dojo for learning structure and colour. The plants in nature embody the inevitability of the rise and fall of life and also arouse her infinite reverie and emotion.

Amanda, a distinguished alumna of Nanyang Academy of Fine arts (Class of 1990, Applied Art), and recipient of the NAFA Scholarship (2000), holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Curtin University of Technology, Australia. Her passion for watercolour painting has led her to study under master artists locally and internationally.

Amanda’s artistic accomplishments have been recognized globally since 2019, through numerous international watercolor exhibitions and awards. Her expertise spans floral, portrait, and landscape genres. Her portrait piece was selected as a finalist in the International Women Watercolour Juried Competition (2022). Additionally, her work was among the 100 finalists of the 2nd Universal Watercolour Exposition 2020. Furthermore, Amanda won second place twice in the International Watercolour Flowers Exhibition ‘The Goddess of Beauty’ organized by IWMA (International Watercolours Masters Alliance) in 2022 and 2023.

Internationally acclaimed watercolour masters have praised Amanda’s work. As a seasoned language and art educator, Amanda shares her expertise as a certified NSA trainer, guiding students in the art of watercolor painting.
