COURSE OVERVIEW

The NAFA Junior Art programme offers short-term art courses for children aged 5 to 16 years old during the June and December school holidays. We offer fun and enriching courses that range from craft-making, canvas painting, clay modelling and printmaking to manga drawing.

Let us Doodle (5 – 7 years old)
Students will learn different ways of painting from scape painting, batik dye, dripping paints and basic painting skills. They will also use coloured paint markers to create doodle or cartoon characters, animals and line doodles.

Huge Canvas Painting (7 – 10 years old)
Students will create artworks on huge canvas boards with acrylic paints and learn about colour theory at the same time.

Students will create a glow in the dark canvas painting, printed tote bag and mixed media art pieces inspired by famous artists.

Clay Play Pokémon (7 – 10 years old)
Students will create their very own collection of Pokémon in this fun-filled soft clay modelling workshop.

Origami Pop-Up Book (9 – 12 years old)
The intricate folds of origami sculptures are strategically positioned within the pages of a pop-up book, resulting in a symphony of movement, colour, and surprise. Characters lean from the pages, juxtaposition of the delicate intricacies of origami with the mechanics of paper engineering adds layers of complexity and depth to the narrative.

Art Inspired by Children’s story (5 – 7 years old)
Students will create “Elmer the Elephant” inspired crafts and a mixed media canvas painting.

Fun Star Workshop (5 – 7 years old)
Students will imagine and create artworks inspired by the story “How To Catch A Star.” They will create a star themed canvas painting, a star plushie and a marbling piece.

Model Clay Toy Figure Making (7 – 10 years old)
Students will tap into sculpturing, painting and designing skills. They will learn how to create and design a character with colour soft clay and a small canvas painting of the character they made.

Imagine, Doodle and Draw (7 – 10 years old)
Students will transfer their creative ideas onto canvas and create different textures and surfaces using mixed art techniques.

Creative 3D Artmaking (7 – 10 years old)
Students will have fun learning to use clay and other assorted objects to construct 3D artwork and sculpture.

Learn Science, Make Art (9 – 12 years old)
Students will create shrink plastic art, lava lamps and slime. They will also learn about the science behind these creations.

Fun with Watercolour Realism (11 – 16 years old)
Students will paint landscape and nature, as well as food painting realistically and expressively. They will explore various fun techniques with watercolour, eg masking fluid, splattering, scoring and salt effect. On the last day, the students will make use of the various techniques to paint a Christmas tree in the snow.

Sketching with Pen and Watercolour (13 – 16 years old)
Students will learn various sketching and watercolour techniques that can be combined to create fast and complete renderings.

Van Gogh Inspired Art (5 – 7 years old)
Students will create artworks inspired by Vincent Van Gogh using mainly acrylic paint and plasticine. They will learn color mixing, blending, and how to create texture using plasticine. They will also create 3D artwork, combining the techniques.

Playable Art (6 – 8 years old)
Students will paint and also create both 2D and 3D artwork that they can play with or interact with. These artworks include painting, sculpture and puzzle making.

Fun 3D Art for Kids (7 – 10 years old)
Students will learn to transform their 2D ideas into 3D art pieces with the methods of constructing and modelling with assorted materials to form a playable art, soft plushie and wire mobile art.

Little Acrylic Painter (9 – 12 years old)
Students will learn basic acrylic painting skills and elements of arts inspired by famous artists and their artworks. Be a little acrylic painter and create your own masterpieces.

Toys Art Us (9 – 12 years old)
Students will learn to create handmade toys such as a Kaleidoscope, an Automata Toy (kinetic playable toy), and a glow in the dark painting.

Landscape in Water-mixable Oil Paints (13 – 16 years old)
Students will learn colour mixing and various oil painting techniques to create two landscape paintings using solvent-free oil paints.

Students will be creating Santa Canvas paintings, Christmas clay craft and coasters, inspired by the story “100 Santa Claus”.

Students will create artworks on huge canvas boards with acrylic paints and learn about colour theory at the same time.

Christmas Glowing Monster (7 – 10 years old)
Students will create their own collection of functional glow-in-the-dark monsters on canvas, boxes and carriers for Christmas.

Sculpture Play (7 – 10 years old)
Students will learn basic sculpting techniques such as assembling and clay modeling. They will explore different materials such as clay, paper, recycled materials and fabric to create their sculptures.

Chinese Ink Painting (7 – 10 years old)
Students will learn the basic knowledge and techniques of Chinese ink painting through guided instruction and demonstration.

Creative Hand Building with Clay (9 – 12 years old)
Students will learn basic hand building like pinch pottery, coil building, and slab building to create bowls, mugs, trays, etc out of air-dry clay. They will also explore different painting techniques for painting on clay like dry brushing and texture making

  • Fee must be paid in full by the deadline otherwise the seat will be released automatically.

Refund of Fees

 
Fees are only refundable under the following conditions:

  1. Full refund if the class is unable to proceed due to unforeseen circumstances.
  2. If withdrawal is made within 14 days before the commencement of the programme, an administrative charge of S$50 (before prevailing GST) will be deducted.
  3. Fees are non-refundable for withdrawal after the class commence*

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

These are short Art courses for children 5 to 16 years old. No prior art knowledge is required.

HOW TO APPLY

There are two enrolments per year:

  • In May, for the end May/June.
  • In October, for end November/December.
All applicants will register online. Do note that registering online does not guarantee a place as most of the courses are usually over-subscribed.

Successful applicants will be notified via email. Upon receiving results of your successful application, please proceed to make prompt payment to secure the class allocated otherwise the seat will be automatically released.

You will be prompted to complete the payment process via email.

Enrolment Steps
  1. Enrol online in October 2023.
  2. Please click here to "Apply" during the enrolment period.
  3. Fill in details as required.
  4. You will receive an email acknowledgement for a completed application.
  5. Payment notification will be sent to the registered email within 24 hours.
  6. Make FULL payment at our payment portal upon receipt of the payment notification to confirm enrolment.
  7. During the enrolment period, once a course is fully subscribed, registration will close for that particular course.

Enrolment Period
24 October 2023, 10am till 29 October 2023, 5pm.

 

FAQ

Twice a year, in May and November.
Register in May for courses commencing in May/June.
Register in November for courses commencing in November/December.

All applicants will register online. Registering online does not guarantee a place as most of the art courses are usually oversubscribed. Successful applicants will be notified via email and SMS on fee payment and class allocation. Please note that the successful application is only secured with fee payment (you will be prompted to complete the required payment within 48 hrs).

7 – 14 students

A teaching assistant is assigned to all classes for children less than 9 years old.

Parents need to inform us about their child’s learning needs upon registration. Children with learning needs will be considered for admission on a case-by-case basis. Our classes are held in a large group setting; hence we are unable to accommodate or admit children who require one-to-one supervision during lessons.

The NAFA Junior Art offer short-term art courses for students 5 to 16 years old during the June and December school holidays. We offer fun and enriching courses that range from craft-making, canvas painting, clay modelling and printmaking to manga drawing.

Our classes are held at NAFA Campus 1, 80 Bencoolen Street.

Please bring an apron, a light jacket and a water bottle. Course fee for vacation courses is inclusive of all art materials.

There is no replacement class for a lesson missed.

The student will be awarded with the Certificate of Participation at the last day of lesson.
