Biography

Yuko Kamimoto graduated from the Musashino Academia Musicae in Tokyo Japan and the Boston University (BU) School for the Arts where she was awarded scholarships each time. After graduation, she continued as a staff pianist at BU.  Besides collaborative piano, Yuko also had a passion for vocal coaching and assisted many singers while accompanying them.

Yuko has been an active public performer, playing solo for a NHK Japan programme and appearing several times as soloist and accompanist on the WHDH television network in Boston.  As a staff member at BU, she regularly collaborated with various musicians including members of the New York Metropolitan Opera and Boston Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed in Japan, Australia and various Asia-Pacific countries, apart from concerts in Singapore.

Over the past decade, Yuko has been focusing more on teaching piano. Many of her students have received prizes and awards from competitions such as the International Chopin Piano Competition in Asia held in Tokyo Japan, the International Chopin Competition in KL Malaysia, and the Singapore National Piano and Violin Competition. Many of her former students have gone on to pursue degree programmes at music conservatories in the USA, England and Japan.  She has also been invited as a judge for various competitions and auditions, as well as to give master classes in and outside of Singapore.

Besides teaching privately, Yuko was a former teaching staff member with the Division of Music at the National Institute of Education, NTU, and also a former resident examiner of the Australian Music Examinations Board.
