Biography

Having exhibited his work in the Portfolio show for Young Designers and getting an honourable mention for the Technigroup Award product design competition, Joey has always been interested in the beauty of woodworking since he got into the Furniture design program at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.

He believes that while design should serve its function, there should also be a sense of fun, quirkiness, or “ah!” moment to the product so that it will create a memorable experience for the user.

Industry experience

Joey started at Air Division as a furniture designer and has been exposed to design and the manufacturing side of furniture.

He also has hands on experience as a woodworker with Roger and Sons, an up-and-coming design outfit that does a wide variety of projects.

Having also previously managed a CNC furniture manufacturing company, he has added another facet to his furniture design journey. And all-rounder, he managed the machinery, producing the different works and was involved in the set up for the clients.
