Biography

Aik Kian is a multi-disciplinary designer and educator with 20 years of experience in projects, ranging from graphic design, interior architecture, to event and exhibition design. His keen interest in photography has also diversified his practice to include photography for architecture, interior, food and events.

Industry experience

After graduation, Aik Kian joined JTC Corporation (JTC) as a Design and Development Manager for one-north, a 200-hectare mixed-use business park in Singapore. He was with JTC for 11 years and was instrumental in the planning, design, development, marketing, leasing, programming and place-making of numerous projects, which include Wessex Estate, one-north streetscape, Chip Bee Gardens, Mediapolis, Fusionopolis, Biopolis, Rochester Park and Gillman Barracks.

Aik Kian left JTC in pursuit of broader experiences and other areas of interest. He became a consultant for a private developer in commercial projects, and was involved in design, marketing, leasing, and investment studies. Concurrently, Aik Kian was a trainer at a private management and training consultancy firm, delivering talks for adult learners in the areas of real estate planning, design and development. His audience included overseas delegates and officials from the Chinese Government.

Further, Aik Kian  was a Senior Lecturer at the Nanyang Polytechnic School of Design. He designed and delivered academic programmes across all three full-time diplomas, spanning Space and Interior Design (which was renamed Spatial Design), Visual Communication Design, and Industrial Design.

Aik Kian was also actively involved in the national SkillsFuture programme. He developed the curriculum for one of the Specialist Diplomas,as well as launched and administered two inaugural design-sector Earn and Learn Programmes (ELP).
