Hailing from Singapore, Karen is the founder of the label Drake & Barnett. She is a graduate of Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) as the pioneer batch of jewellery designers. Her journey to starting her label has traversed through sifting diamonds, advertising and branding, a stint imparting her design techniques to precocious talents at NAFA which culminated in the creation, Drake & Barnett.

Upon graduation, she co-founded Metalskinz, a self-funded online directory aimed at helping graduate students and budding designers to showcase their portfolios for employability. Karen has participated and earned finalist positions in competitions held by Larry Jewellery & Rotary Club and Tianpo’s Innovate Jewellery Design Competition. She came in first in NAFA’s ICON Award (Jewellery) and third in the Photography category.

She decided to return to her alma mater, NAFA as an adjunct lecturer from 2007 - 2012, where she created learning syllabus for Jewellery Design and have been instrumental in developing the next wave of jewellery designers. As a champion for the cause of the Singapore jewellery industry, she was accorded the G.I.A’s 80th anniversary scholarship.

Karen was a featured designer in "IAMBRILLIANTTOO" supported by SPRING Singapore and Facets & Golay Pearls' in Singapore Jewellery & Gem Fair. She has appeared in media appearances in Female magazine and a mention by Indesignlivesg for her work from NAFA’s Simple Pleasure exhibition.
