Biography

Janet completed her Bachelor of Arts at the Akademie für Tonkunst, Darmstadt in Germany where she studied piano with Professor Grigory Gruzman, and a minor study in violin with Professor Dorothee Birke. Subsequently, Janet pursued her Performance Degree Studies in piano at the Musikhochschule Köln, Germany, under the tutelage of Professor Nina Tichman.  She joined the Streichorchester Taunus (string orchestra) during her studies in Germany and participated in masterclasses by Professor Rainer Hoffmann (Piano and Chamber Music). She was one of the jury members for the “Jugendmusiziert Wettbewerb”, a national piano competition in Germany for children & youths.

After returning to Singapore, Janet was engaged as a senior teacher at the Cristofori Music School. Since 2005, Janet has been teaching as an independent music teacher, giving lessons in piano, theory, and viva-voce, as well as accompanying music students in concerts and examinations.

Janet also runs a private music studio with her husband.
