Gary Goh has more than 14 years of experience in the fashion industry prior to his teaching career at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. Since the 1990s, he has worked in areas such as apparel design, design and product development as well as merchandising.
His expertise in apparel design ranges from designing young trendy club clothes to ready-to-wear apparel for young working professionals as a Designer at Studio E.FX and Thomas Wee Pte Ltd respectively.
As a Design & Product Development Manager at Bodynits International Pte Ltd, he has designed gym-wear, fashion-wear, swimwear and underwear for in-house brands, liaised with manufacturers and suppliers to produce garments at competitive prices, as well as worked closely with the Advertising and Promotional Department for advertisements, magazine editorials and fashion shows.
He has also managed the design and product development for GUESS Kids USA at FJ Benjamin Pte Ltd.
As an Assistant Merchandising Manager at Club 21 CK Calvin Klein, he has worked closely with the design team for CK Calvin Klein in New York to help them shape the merchandise plan for the various markets based on sales history, and has facilitated the organizing of market buys in Hong Kong, which includes the realization of salesman samples, price negotiations and line sheet presentation to buyers.
Gary had also been an entrepreneur, having managed a small start-up business, Firefly Private Limited, selling a line of self-designed unisex bags.
