Currently the Deputy Head of the Music Department and Programme Coordinator for the Diploma course in Music Teaching at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Dr. Lim teaches instrumental/vocal teaching, participatory music education, keyboard literatures, and piano lessons. His research interests include pedagogy skills and curriculum design in music education. He had presented at the World Conference of the International Society of Music Education (ISME) in Italy (2008) and China (2010), and at the Asia-Pacific Symposium on Music Education Research (APSMER) in Taiwan (2011).

As a soloist and collaborative pianist, Dr. Lim has performed in the metropolitan areas of the United States, including New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Columbia, Atlanta, and Little Rock. In Singapore, he has performed in the Chopin Celebration Concert (2010), and participated as one of the performers in Beethoven 32 Piano Sonata cycle (2008). He was also on the faculty of Ho Chi Minh City International Piano Festival 2013 where he conducted lecture recitals on 18th century piano literature.

In addition to adjudicating at festivals and competitions such as the Hartsville Music Festival (USA), Young Pianist Competition (Singapore), Vivace Inter-Junior College Piano Duo Competition (Singapore), and the Roland Piano Competition (Malaysia), Dr. Lim is active as a clinician and external examiner in music schools in the region. He was the Secretary of the Organising Committee of the First International Chopin Piano Competition Singapore in 2010.
