Biography

David’s professional experiences include being a dance performer at Semperoper Ballet Dresden and rehearsal director for the Thoss Tanz Kompanie at Staatsoper Hannover in Germany. He performed throughout Europe and worked with diverse choreographers, including Stephan Thoss, Glen Tetley, Uwe Scholz and John Neumeier.

Prior to joining the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 2017, David was Subject Head ⁠–⁠ Dance at School of the Arts Singapore and Lecturer in Dance Studies at The University of Auckland in New Zealand. He served as Board Member for the New Zealand Dance Festival Trust and as Advisory Panel Member for the New Zealand School of Dance.

David’s work focuses on teaching creative dexterity and leadership skills in the education of dance professionals. He presented his research at international conferences, such as the International Studying Leadership Conference and the Art of Management and Organization Conference in Great Britain and Slovenia. His research was published in the Research in Dance Education journal and Organizational Aesthetics. David is an external assessor for the National Arts Council of Singapore and member of the UNESCO International Dance Council.
