Lianhe Zaobao reported on debate sparked by polytechnics’ use of AI-generated student visuals in their publicity, with students questioning whether such practices undermine creativity and institutional identity. Responding from an arts education perspective, NAFA Provost and Vice President (Academic) Assoc Prof Chong Keng Hua said NAFA integrates AI as a tool within learning and creative practice, while maintaining human-centred values such as aesthetics, ethics, critical thinking and empathy. He emphasised that AI should complement, not replace, human “artistic intelligence”, arguing that collaboration between technology and human experience enables deeper creativity and more meaningful artistic outcomes.
