Visual Communication (Certificate)*

Course is approved for Skills Future Credit Claims. (Only for Singaporean, 25 years old and above.)

Introduction

The course is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of graphic design. It will include practical sessions to equip students with basic understanding and knowledge of graphic design, as well as training in digital media.

Terms and conditions

Students will be presented a Certificate upon successful completion of all 4 short courses and passing all required assessment.

Visual Communication 1 - Principle of Design (10 sessions x 3 hours)

This course is an introduction to elements and principles of design for effective visual communication. Through practical studies, you will be guided to apply key concepts introduced and develop a design project from concept to final artwork.

Visual Communication 2 - Digital Design I (10 sessions x 3 hours)

In this course, you will have the opportunity to learn how to create basic 2D and 3D graphics and apply knowledge acquired in principles of design using the software, Adobe Illustrator. The training will include introduction to basic interface, tools, and hands-on sessions with demonstrations.

Visual Communication 3 - Typography & Colour Study (10 sessions x 3 hours)

This course will focus on the basics of typography and its applications in graphic design. You will be introduced to letterforms, fundamentals of type selection, typesetting and typographic layout, hence developing a basic understanding in typographic design.

Visual Communication 4 - Digital Design II (10 sessions x 3 hours)

In this course, you will be guided through the basics of image editing with Adobe Photoshop, as well as layouts with Adobe InDesign. The training will include introduction to basic interface, tools, setting up of workspace and hands-on sessions with demonstrations.

Applicants must be 17 years old & above.

Prerequisites for registration of short courses

  • For Visual Communication 3 & 4, applicants need to complete Visual Communication 1 & 2 (within six months)

Applicants can sign up the above 4 short courses at a package price of S$1650.

80 Bencoolen Street (S) 189655. The student's name, NRIC/Passport number and contact number must be written on the reverse side of the cheque.

Refund of Fees

Withdrawal within 14 days before the commencement date of each short course Course fee will be refunded after deduction of S$107 as administrative charges.
Withdrawal on or after commencement date
No refunds will be given.

Cancellation/ Postponement

  • NAFA reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course without prior notice.
    In the event that the class is unable to proceed due to unforeseen circumstances, NAFA will process a full refund of the course fees.

Withdrawal/ Deferment/ Transfer

  • Withdrawal or deferment requests should be made in writing with supporting relevant documents (if any) to Continuing Education. Request for deferment is subject to approval.
  • No deferment is allowed after the 2nd lesson of each short course.
  • No transfer of course upon registration.

Replacement of Classes

  • There is strictly no replacement lesson should the participant absent himself/herself from the course.

Part Time Certificate courses (Jul 2017 Intake) will commence in the week of 27 June 2017.
