Fashion Design (Certificate)*

Course is approved for Skills Future Credit Claims. (Only for Singaporean, 25 years old and above.)


The courses are designed for those who are interested in Fashion Design to acquire basic skills and knowledge in Apparel Design, Textile Printing, Pattern Making and Apparel Construction.

Terms and conditions

Students will be presented a Certificate upon successful completion of all 4 short courses and passing all required assessment.

Course Available Dates and Timings*

  • 1 session per week per short course; maximum of 2 short courses per week.

Fashion Design 1 - Basic Apparel Design (9 sessions x 3 hours)

This course introduces fundamental practice of apparel design from visual research , design sketches, illustrations, and stages of design development process to portfolio preparation.

Fashion Design 2 - Basic Textile Printing (9 sessions x 3 hours)

This course provides hands-on experiment and exploration of basic printing methods on fabric as part of apparel design process. Students will learn how to produce creative prints onto fabrics before construction and sewing.

Fashion Design 3 - Basic Pattern Making (9 sessions x 3 hours)

In this course, students will learn the application of basic process of 2D pattern cutting on paper and suitable fabric. This includes skirt, bodice, sleeves, finishes, decorative details. This short course is interconnected with Basic Construction for fitting and alteration of patterns on the completing garment.

Fashion Design 4 - Basic Construction (9 sessions x 3 hours)

In this course, students will learn the handling of machine, application of basic seam finishes, and apparel assembly methods using domestic sewing machines. This training is interconnected with Basic Pattern Making for fitting and alteration of patterns on the completing garment.

Applicants must be 17 years old & above.

Prerequisites for Registration

  • For Fashion Design 2, 3 & 4, applicants need to complete Fashion Design 1 (within six months)

Applicants can sign up the above 4 short courses at a package price of S$1650.
(applicable only during registration)

Refund of Fees

Withdrawal within 14 days before the commencement date of each short course Course fee will be refunded after deduction of S$107 as administrative charges.
Withdrawal on or after commencement date
No refunds will be given.

Cancellation/ Postponement

  • NAFA reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course without prior notice.
    In the event that the class is unable to proceed due to unforeseen circumstances, NAFA will process a full refund of the course fees.

Withdrawal/ Deferment/ Transfer

  • Withdrawal or deferment requests should be made in writing with supporting relevant documents (if any) to Continuing Education. Request for deferment is subject to approval.
  • No deferment is allowed after the 2nd lesson of each short course.
  • No transfer of course upon registration.

Replacement of Classes

  • There is strictly no replacement lesson should the participant absent himself/herself from the course.

The Academy reserves the rights to alter the rules & regulations, course contents, class schedule and fee structures without prior notice

Registration for January 2017 intake has closed and all courses are full.

The next intake will commence in July 2017 and enrolment will begin in May.
