Contemporary Architectural Trends in Japan

This SOAD Visiting Artist Talk by Professor Hikaru Kinoshita from Kansai University, Osaka, was organised in conjunction with 'Superimposing spaces: Explorations on re-inventing mature developments' exhibition, showcasing design-based solutions by students in response to abandoned opportunities of mature housing estates.

The 2-hour talk addressed topics of contemporary architecture and its possible associations with interior design trends in Japan through various case studies prepared by Professor Kinoshita, as well as the current and emerging housing and commercial architectural trends In Japan. Students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of contemporary Japanese architectural designs, drawing inspirations for their future creative processes.
