Carla Karishma Cantarella (b.2001) is a mixed media artist that explores topics like Mental health (primarily anxiety), human relationships, and invisible labour. Her initial works were photography and video art but her current practice has expanded to include publications and installations. Her most recent installation, "The Visit” was exhibited in a group show, ‘Wake’ at The Substation (2021). Her recent text-based work includes: “My Story of Time and Care” which she co-authored during a partnership with NAFA and a local Hospice for an exhibition titled Stories of Care (2021), “The Book of intrusive thoughts”, an artist book that consisted of her photography and collected intrusive thoughts (2022); and “The Apartments”, a collaborative publication which discussed topics of parental based trauma and healing (2022). As she continues to explore these topics, she hopes to create more collaborative works.
