Once is Once was

On my attempt to investigate childhood memory of my mother, comes involvement of my grandma. The three generation imply three different point of view that sometimes connect and interlink at one point. It suggest the idea of relationship's permanence. First part show my footage of my mother's childhood site and my grandma's conversation with me which she happen to lost recollection of. Second parts show two separated audio of my grandma and mother with their similar experience.

Interval

This project revolves around the idea of momentum and accident rooting on precise interval between two events when the order goes off, which leads to reveal the notion of time. The mundane events are subject to explore as it embodies the notion of time yet often overlooked. The total amount of footages are 61 with duration of five minutes and one second, it implies the leap second (61 seconds) occur at a rate of eight times in a decade to unify two different timekeeping system.

Preserving the Void

Towards the middle of the process, came the idea of using the space in between which is how the 12 small squares took place. The main artwork needs to deteriorate for the void to be transferred into flat surface. Perfection aimed at one defeats the other. Red being the original color had been destroyed into sticky brittle object as more voids in between is preserved. The idea of preserving and destroying at the same time is what has finally become the focus, overtaking the narrative of this art

Ideal

Residing in two places with distinct differences in regulation, comes an observation on how people collectively respond to the system and constantly seeks for the ideal, despite of how ideal they are regarded as. Human’s aim for progress makes me question its nature that is seemingly better and closer to righteousness, yet cost a price reflecting on how much past is romanticised. The work is presented mimicking a form of flag with destruction to emphasise question on collective purpose.

Last One Second and ...

Acrylic painting on canvas Varied dimensions This series attempt to portray the bodily and mental experience during the last few seconds upon dying. The question translates it into portrayal of ambience.
