Boundless: The Art of Kim Hai Lim
浩瀚之旅|林金海

This homecoming exhibition was a culmination of Lim's artistic endeavours over 3 decades. Born in Malaysia, Lim Kim Hai is a graduate of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris. He is known for his iconic large-scale canvases of apples that offer a visual narrative of his observations of human behaviour. The careful orchestration of objects, colour, vertical and horizontal planes create both depth and surface, where the continuity of the elements offer a visual encounter that is rich in emotional force and inventiveness. The exhibition showcased Lim's early works from the 1980s as influenced by a Parisian classical style, and included street scenes of Malacca where he lives and works today.
