Perfectly Grey

Held from 3 to 7 June 2014 at NAFA Galleries and the National Design Centre, Perfectly Grey: 3D Design Graduation Show 2014 brought together some 150 graduating students from Diploma in 3D Design, BA (Hons) 3D Design: New Practice and BA (Hons) Spatial Design.

Grey is a colour that offers indefinite possibilities, a shade between the absoluteness of white and black. It is similiar to design, a practice which explores how and where art, technology, aesthetic and functionality interact and intersect in a dynamic flow of competing needs. To address these issues, problem-solving design calls for debate, research and exploration. Very often, these ‘perfectly grey’ areas are catalysts for innovative and creative ideation. This exhibition was testament to how these ‘perfectly grey’ areas had provoked new design thinking; and in the process, redefined the boundaries of 3D Design.
