Valerie graduated from the Diploma in Graphic Design in 1998. After her graduation, she ventured into advertising, starting the first 10 years of her career in digital media. She has then progressed to developing strategies on brand building and integrated creative solutions for major brands such as Hewlett-Packard, Procter & Gamble, Singapore Airlines, HSBC, Burger King, VISA, Singapore Tourism Board, Tiger Beer, and many others.

In 2010, Valerie made it to be the first female chairperson in the history of the Creative Circle Awards Singapore, our nation’s premier creative award show. She has also been invited to judge at several award shows such as Spikes Asia 2011, Cannes Lions 2011, D&AD 2012, Clio 2013, London International Awards 2013 and Cannes 2014.

Over the years, she has made her mark at Cannes, One Show, London International, Effies, Golden Drum, Spikes Asia, Adfest and The Webby Awards. Under her leadership, her team at JWT Singapore picked up the Best of Show award, Digital Agency of The Year and the Grand Prix for Digital/Mobile at the Creative Circle Awards 2012.

She is also a member of the Creative Advisory Panel for the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Singapore (4AS) and The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS). In 2013, Valerie was one of the external assessors invited to examine the final year projects of NAFA students reading for their Diploma in Design & Media (Advertising).

With all her achievements, she was awarded Singapore’s first Digital Creative Director of The Year award at the Advertising Hall of Fame event in 2011 and 2012. She has also been voted by the Institute of Advertising (IAS) as one of Singapore's Most Influential Creative Directors for four consecutive years from 2011 to 2014.
