Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), University of the Arts Singapore, an esteemed arts institution would like to invite applications from seasoned theatre practitioners and educators for the position of Adjunct Lecturer (Research & Writing) at School of Theatre, to teach Practice-Based Research, with a specific focus on performance and theatre for the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Contemporary Chinese Theatres.

This module will be delivered in Mandarin. You will exemplify a robust track record in theatre practice/research, fortified by substantial experience in the theatre industry. Holding a postgraduate qualification or nearing its completion is essential. Your capacity to thrive in a multicultural, interdisciplinary environment, and remain abreast of the evolving theoretical and practical landscapes of theatre, will be key to guiding our students in navigating the challenging terrains of the theatre and performance industry in Asia and across the globe.


Roles and Responsibilities

 
  1. Undertake contact/teaching hours per week in one of the following unit(s)/component(s):
    1. Performance Research 3: Research and Writing
  2. Design, prepare and develop documents such as lesson plans and assessment descriptors as well as teaching resources/materials
  3. Plan and supervise a variety of activities such as projects, productions, collaborations, etc
  4. Supervise and assess students’ assignments/works/projects
  5. Prepare and maintain records relating to students’ progress, performance, and attendance
  6. Contribute to the review of the assigned unit(s)/component(s)
  7. Mentor and provide academic care and support, including career guidance to students
  8. Keep up to date on the development of discipline related teaching practices and learning strategies
  9. Establish and maintain links with the industry and institutions to foster a total approach of academic pursuit alongside industry practice
  10. Contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration and research
  11. Teach in other courses within the School of Theatre or across the Academy as appropriate, if required
  12. Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time


Requirements

 
  1. Minimally a Masters's degree in Theatre, Performance Studies or related discipline
  2. Minimum 5 years’ teaching experience in higher education or the theatre industry
  3. Demonstrates experience in practice-based or practice-led research within the performing arts
  4. A strong research or professional practice track record and demonstrate actual or potential contributions in their chosen field
  5. Demonstrates effectiveness in pedagogical approach
  6. Able to effectively collaborate and contribute within a team-oriented teaching and interdisciplinary arts environment
  7. Positive, enthusiastic, and results-oriented demeanor with the ability to ignite a passion for learning among students
  8. Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills, fostering a collaborative work environment
  9. Excellent communication skills, problem-solving and analytical skills
