'A New Wake Design Experience' marks a unique collaboration between NAFA and Ang Chin Moh Funeral Directors. Involving students from the Diploma in Design (Interior and Exhibition) programme, the collaboration on a new wake design experience explored the promise and potential of new funeral typologies, shedding light on how spatial design can respond to changing needs and conditions revolving ritualistic practices in religions. In one of the projects, the entire space was thoughtfully adorned with graceful curves, abundant landscaping, and vibrant floral arrangements, symbolising the different stages of the circle of life. A majestic tree at the centre served as a focal point for memories, featuring photographs and notes.
The innovative works were showcased at NAFA Campus 1, along Bencoolen Street from 21 September to 10 October 2023, in conjunction with DesignSingapore Council's Singapore Design Week. View the showcase here!
