Rachel Lim specialises in urban contemporary documentary and portraiture photography. Previously trained in film making, Rachel’s photographic works encompass elements of the theatrical and dramatic, imbued with an unusual fascination of the Singaporean culture and the people and peculiarities of various social classes and groups of the modern society.

She has participated in many group exhibitions locally and internationally, including the National Museum of Singapore, Human Faces Contemporary Photography Exhibition as part of Singapore International Photography Festival, the Société Généralé Private Banking Gallery at the Alliance Française de Singapour and International Orange Photo Festival in China. She was nominated as one of the top 10 young photographers on Platform 10 an initiative for Singapore-based photographers and has won several awards including the Kwek Leng Joo Prize of Excellence in Still Photography Awards in 2010, the International Kuala Lumpur Photo Awards in 2010 and 2012, and the Canon DV Film Fest in 2005.

Rachel has taught Diploma and Foundation students at the School of Interactive and Digital Media and Nanyang Polytechnic, as well as Degree students at the Singapore Manufacturing Federation and Institute of Higher Learning.

She is actively involved in the photography industry as a bespoke portrait and wedding photography where her works have also been featured in various Art and Photographic Societies, including The Singapore Straits Times TTL, Invisible Photographer’s Asia, The Wedding Bureau, Culturepush and Korea’s art magazine, ‘People of Tastes’.
