Singapore-based award-winning flutist, composer, educator and recording artist, Rit Xu has emerged as a stellar artist and continues to champion instrumental excellence with his lyrical, and introspective musical voice on the flute. Rit Xu attained a Diploma in Music Performance from NAFA in 2009, and subsequently, graduated in classical flute performance from Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2015. After winning the Jazz Association (Singapore) (JASS) overseas scholarship, he went on to complete a postgraduate degree in jazz studies at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, NYC. His passionate, wholehearted and highly energetic performances have won the admiration of fans and fellow musicians worldwide and raised the profile of jazz music.

In 2011, Xu took part in the Thailand International Jazz Conference Solo Competition and clinched the top award. In 2014, he was recognised for his finesse as a flutist and improviser by being named Winner of the NFA Jazz Artist Competition; the first Southeast Asian to win a solo jazz competition in the United States. Most recently, Xu was awarded the National Arts Council’s Young Artist Award in 2022—a testament to his hard work and contributions to the arts scene.
