Co-organised by the NAFA School of Music and RAVE Group Int'l, the Nanyang International Music Competition (NIMC) 2019 seeks to inculcate creative attitudes and a spirit of curiosity and responsibility in young musicians around the world by:
- providing a platform for musicians from around the world to challenge themselves to reach higher standards of performance;
- fostering musical exchange within a supportive community; and
- inspiring participants to find meaning in belonging to a community of like-minded people.
The Piano Solo competition showcases young pianists from the Asia Pacific region. Focusing on artistry and musical interpretation, participants will compete in four categories: Junior (12 and below), Intermediate (16 and below), Senior (22 and below) and Artist (30 and below). An international panel of jury, consisting of Ursula Oppens (United States), Mikhail Khokhlov (Russia), Dina Parakhina (Russia/United Kingdom), Mary Wu (Hong Kong) and Le Ho Hai (Vietnam) will adjudicate the competition and conduct masterclasses to selected contestants.
