Fourth-generation Chaozhou zheng player Lin Zhong is a member of the China Musicians Association Guzheng Society and Shantou Musicians Association. She is also the Vice President of the Singapore Qinzheng Association, member of the Singapore Chinese Music Federation, and a guzheng ensemble instructor for schools under the Ministry of Education, Singapore.
Born into a musical family, Lin Zhong was under the tutelage of her father, famous guzheng performer Lin Mao Gen (1929-2007). In the 1990s, she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in education from the Xinghai Conservatory of Music, where her teachers included established guzheng performers such as Gao Zicheng, Cao Guifen, and Xiang Sihua. Upon graduation, she taught at the Shantou Culture and Art School. After moving to Singapore, she was employed by the City Chinese Orchestra and Shangyin Music Academy here. She has led student guzheng ensembles to many Gold Awards at the Singapore Youth Festival competitions, and her teaching spirit and style have been widely recognized by the community.
As a Chaozhou zheng performer, Lin Zhong is dedicated to the promotion and legacy of her craft. In recent years, she has been invited to participate in many artistic activities both at home and abroad.
林钟是潮州筝第四代传人，现为中国音乐家协会古筝学会会员、汕头市音乐家协会会员、新加坡琴筝学会副会长、新加坡华乐总会会员并任教于新加坡教育部下属的学校古筝团。
林钟出生于音乐世家，父亲林毛根（1929—2007）是中国著名古筝演奏家，自幼在家庭的熏陶和父亲的教导下，继承了潮派古筝的演奏风格并成为潮州派古筝传人之一。她90年代毕业于中国星海音乐学院教育专业并获学士学位，在校期间师承陈安华教授，并先后得到著名古筝家高自成、曹桂芬、项斯华等名师的悉心指导，在演奏形式和弹奏技法上，充分融合了学院派和传统派的双法特点刚柔并济、形韵同行，同时继承了父亲林毛根清雅、古朴、细腻的演奏风格；深谙潮州筝乐各调式的演奏特色，特别在“活五调”的演奏上有着较高的造诣。演奏的筝曲《雨溅海棠花》、《小桃花》为中国音乐大全潮州音乐CD系列录制。早期毕业后曾任汕头市文化艺术学校音乐教师。上世纪90年代移居新加坡，曾受聘于新加坡南洋艺术学院狮城华乐团、新加坡上音音乐学院，带领的学校学生古筝团多次获得新加坡青年节艺术比赛金奖，其教学精神与风格深受学生喜爱并广受社会认可。
作为潮州筝演奏艺术家，林钟长期致力于潮州筝海外教学传承和弘扬传播，近年来，她多次应邀参与国内外艺术活动，活跃于古筝艺术演奏舞台。在2004年参加了扬州举办的中国古筝学术交流会，在会上参与林毛根潮州筝曲介绍并作示范演奏，在两岸三地音乐会上，以海外音乐家身份 演奏潮州筝曲《寒鸦戏水》；2010年和林乔合编的《锦上添花——林毛根潮州筝曲精选》，由人民音乐出版社发行；2015年，参加星海音乐学院举办的首届岭南古筝艺术节，并在《潮州筝派》讲座上表演；同年，参与新加坡琴笙和鸣音乐会，担任独奏；2016年参与录制《中国汕头潮州风古筝专题》节目，同年8月受邀iartschool录制网络教育录像， 12月参加了《中国潮筝——全国传统古筝学术交流会》 活动，并在“纪念潮州筝大师林毛根先生音乐会上的演出”。
