An erhu and banghu performer, Huo Yonggang is an Associate Professor of Folk Music at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Visiting Professor at the China Conservatory of Music, Director of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Folk Music (Bow Strings) Teaching and Research Group, Associate Director of the Shanghai Musicians Association Erhu Professional Committee, doctorate tutor and music producer.
Born in Gansu, Lanzhou in November 1967, Huo Yonggang began his studies at the attached Junior and Middle Schools to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 1978, and subsequently enrolled into the Conservatory with outstanding results. At college level, he studied at the China Conservatory of Music. Under the tutelage of famous banhu and erhu musicians and educators Liu Mingyuan, Lin Xinming and Xiang Zuying, he graduated with honours in 1991, and has been teaching at the Conservatory ever since.
Huo Yonggang is an enthusiastic, lively performer who is adept at both the northern and southern styles of performance and various folk styles of the nation. His technical prowess and apt musicality has won him artistic appeal. He has also produced a number of banhu and erhu albums.
In his many years of teaching, he has been committed to more scientific and standardized erhu and banhu playing techniques, and the integration of technique and cogitation. He not only pays attention to the rigorous teaching of basic skills and imparting different performance styles, but also makes an effort to guide students in adapting practical performance thoughts and expressing connotations of repertoire more adequately.
霍永刚,二胡、板胡演奏家。上海音乐学院民乐系副教授,中国音乐学院客席教授,上海音乐学院民乐系拉弦教研室主任,上海音乐家协会二胡专业委员会副主任,硕士研究生导师,音乐制作人。
1967年11月出生于甘肃兰州。1978年开始就读于上海音乐学院附小、附中,并以出色的成绩考入上海音乐学院大学部。在大学期间,曾就读于中国音乐学院。先后师从于著名演奏家、教育家刘明源、林心铭及项祖英教授学习板胡和二胡,1991年以优异成绩毕业,并留校任教至今。
霍永刚在音乐方面兼收南北各家风格和演奏技巧,演奏刚劲热情,活泼奔放,亲切感人,能准确地掌握各地不同地区民族的民间风格。他的技术功底扎实,音乐处理贴切,具有非凡的艺术感染力。他先后灌制过多部板胡、二胡专辑。
在多年的教学中,一直致力于教授更科学、规范化的二胡、板胡演奏方式,尤其是在技能和思维训练的综合上。他既注重严谨的基本功教学和不同风格性技巧的传授,也努力引导学生实践演奏思维的训练,提高表达音乐作品内涵的能力。
