Handmade Books for Beginners

Through guided, hands-on projects, this beginner-friendly course introduces participants to essential bookbinding tools, materials, and techniques. From folding signatures and stitching journals to constructing hardcovers and photo pockets, you’ll learn to create one-of-a-kind books from scratch. The course culminates in crafting an accordion photo album, perfect for displaying travel memories or commemorating special occasions. Whether you're a crafter, writer, artist, or memory-keeper, this course opens the door to a world of handmade storytelling, creativity, and craftsmanship.
Learning Outcomes:At the end of this workshop, learners will be able to:
- Identify and use key tools and materials required for home-based bookbinding.
- Fold and prepare signatures as the foundation of handmade books.
- Apply basic stitching methods to bind simple journals securely and artistically.
- Construct hardcovers and integrate them with inner pages.
- Design and insert photo pockets for storing or displaying visual mementos.
- Create and assemble a custom accordion photo album suitable for display or gifting.
A digital certificate will be issued upon successful course completion, which requires a minimum attendance rate of 75%.
