Vacation Courses

Introduction

The NAFA Junior Art Department offers short-term art courses for students (4 – 17 years old) during the June and December school holidays. We offer fun and enriching courses that range from craft-making, canvas painting, clay modelling, printmaking and photography to fashion-drawing.

Learning Outcomes

Depending on the type of workshop the students enrol in, their learning outcomes will vary.

Science Art Workshop (Ages 8-11) An interesting workshop filled with experimental science projects, where students will learn to create beautiful works of art including lava lamps, sticky slime, marbling and chromatography art. 28/5, 30/5-1/6 (Mon, Wed-Fri)

Sketch and Paint in Watercolour (Ages 11-15) Students will learn both illustrative and realistic watercolour painting techniques to render a variety of subject matters from nature and complete a landscape painting at the end of the workshop. 28/5, 30/5-1/6 (Mon, Wed-Fri) 9am - 12pm
Outer Space Art and Crafts (Ages 4-7) Little children will use different materials to create a space rocket board, an animal robot, a puffy alien wand and sketchbook. 4/6-8/6 (Mon-Fri) 1pm - 4pm
Fun 2D & 3D Plants (Ages 5-8) Students will have fun painting flowers on canvas and making a 3D paper mache cactus in a pot. 4/6-7/6 (Mon-Thu) 9am - 12pm
Chinese Ink Painting 1 (Ages 7-8) Students will be guided through guided instructions and demonstrations on how to paint bamboos, chrysanthemums, crabs, cherries, hedgehogs, chicks and gourds. 4/6-8/6 (Mon-Fri) 10am - 12pm (FULL)
Chinese Ink Painting 2 (Ages 9-11) (Closed Due to Insufficient Applicant) Students will learn about composition and practice freehand brush techniques to paint baskets, mangosteens, rambutans, durians, crabs and sparrows. 4/6-8/6 (Mon-Fri) 1pm - 3pm
Clay Play Pokemon (Ages 7-10) A fun-filled workshop where students create their own collection of Pokemon including the new Gen 2 and 3 Pokemons. 4/6-8/6 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Fun with Manga (Ages 9-12) Students will explore various techniques of manga (Japanese-style comic) to create their own Mecha, Chibi characters and comic strip. 4/6-8/6 (Mon-Fri) 1pm - 4pm (FULL)

Draw and Sculpt Workshop (Ages 9-12) Students will create a drawing in charcoal, and a design of a composite creature and translate it into a plaster bandage sculpture at the end of the workshop. 4/6-8/6 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm
Fun with Caricature (Ages 9-12) Students will learn how to draw hilarious pictures of their classmates, friends and family using various mediums and techniques. 11/6-14/6 (Mon-Thu) 9am -12pm
Creative Drawing and Doodling (Ages 6-9) Students will be encouraged to develop their own personal imagery with various visual stimuli on paper, plastic sheet and canvas. 11/6-14/6 (Mon-Thu) 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Fun 3D Art (Ages 7-10) Students will learn to construct with assorted materials to form a functional 3D work, a soft plushie and a wire mobile art. 18/6-22/6 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm
Huge Canvas Painting (Ages 7-10) Students will paint on huge canvas boards with acrylic paint and learn about colour theory. 18/6-22/6 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Still Life Painting (Ages 10-17) Students will practice charcoal drawing and canvas painting of still life to develop observational skills and paint handling techniques. 19/6-22/6 (Tue-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Chinese Seal Engraving Class (Ages 13-16) (Closed Due to Insufficient Applicant) Students will learn how to make positive and negative engraving seals of names, zodiac signs, auspicious characters, bird and insect fonts, and even English fonts. 18/6-22/6 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm

Registration Fees

  • Registration fee is $32.10.
  • This fee is applicable to the new applicants at NAFA.

Payment Terms

  • Payment is via cheque only and cashier's order should be crossed and made payable to the "Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts". Please write your name, NRIC/passport number and contact number on the reverse side of the cheque/cashier's order.
  • Separate cheques to be issued for every course.
  • Payment of fees should be made prior to the commencement of each course as stipulated in the fee structure.

Enrolment Steps

  1. Download the registration form here or obtain it at JA Office located at NAFA campus 1, Wing B level 3, room 3-20 during office hours.
  2. Call or walk in to check class availability.
  3. Complete and submit the registration form together with cheque payment.
  4. Receive email confirmation 2 weeks before commencement of the class.
  5. Start class as scheduled.
