Vacation Courses

Introduction

The NAFA Junior Art Department offers short-term art courses for students (4 – 17 years old) during the June and December school holidays. We offer fun and enriching courses that range from craft-making, canvas painting, clay modelling, printmaking and photography to fashion-drawing.

Learning Outcomes

Depending on the type of workshop the students enrol in, their learning outcomes will vary.

My Miniature Art Museum (Ages 9-12) Students will make their own ‘Miniature Art Museum’ showcasing mini paintings and sculptures by famous artists of all time. 18-22/11 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm
Printing and Painting for the Festive (Ages 9-12) Students will learn printmaking and watercolour painting techniques to create artworks with Christmas themes. 18-22/11 (Mon-Fri) 1pm - 4pm (CLOSED)
Drawing and Painting (Ages 10-16) Students will learn about perspectives, values and colours through pen-rendering, charcoal drawing and acrylic painting on canvas. 18-22/11 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)
Soft Pastel Portrait (Ages 10-16) Students will learn about proportions, values and colours and create two portraits in pastels, using photographs of their choice. 18-22/11 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (CLOSED)
Christmas Painting and Craft (Ages 4-7) Students will have fun making a Christmas wreath, a canvas painting, a Christmas tree light and ornaments. 25-29/11 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)
Gardens by the Clay (Ages 5-7) Students will create useful clay art decorated photo frame, coin bank and pencil holder full of adorable garden critters and flowers. 25-29/11 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm
Paint and Sculpt Dessert (Ages 6-8) Students will be inspired by Wayne Thiebaud to paint a cake on canvas, and make a log cake and a sundae using paper and clay. 25-28/11 (Mon-Thu) 9am - 12pm
Huge Canvas Painting (Ages 7-10) Students will paint on huge canvas boards with acrylic paint and learn about colour theory. 25-29/11 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Paint and Sculpt after Picasso (Ages 8-12) Students will explore the Cubism, Blue and Rose periods of Picasso to create two canvas paintings and a sculpture using found objects. 25-29/11 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)
Experimental Painting and Craft (Ages 7-10) Students will have fun painting with unusual materials and making paper collages, wind chimes, folding cranes and lanterns. 25-29/11 (Mon-Fri) 1pm - 4pm
Landscape in Water-soluble Oil Paints (Ages 12-16) Students will learn colour mixing and various oil painting techniques to create two landscape paintings using solvent-free oil paints. 25-29/11 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)
Fun with Functional Art (Ages 5-7) Students will create artworks that are fun and functional through painting, printmaking and constructing 3D work. 2-6/12 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm
Starry Art Workshop (Ages 6-9) Students will create a painting, a mobile, a felt plushie, a decorated photo frame and a big Christmas decoration with the star theme. 2-6/12 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm
Draw and Paint Still Life (Ages 6-8) Students will paint a plant through observation onto canvas and draw a teddy bear on paper with bamboo pen and ink wash. 3-6/12 (Tue-Fri) 9am - 12pm
Chinese Ink Painting (Ages 6-7/ 8-11) Students will learn freehand brush techniques to paint fishes, lotus/sunflower, cactus/ducks, kingfishers and a snow scene. 2-6/12 (Mon-Fri) 10am - 12pm (Ages 6-7)

Digital Painting from Photography (Ages 11-16) Students will learn how to digitally paint from their photo taken during this workshop to create two A3 size painting prints. 2-6/12 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Christmas Clay Wreath Modelling (Ages 5-7/ 8-12) Students will create Santa, snowman, deer, gingerbreads, candies with soft clay and assemble a Christmas wreath with LED lights. 2-6/12 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (Ages 5-7)

Fabric Art Workshop (Ages 4-7) Students will create a fabric collage of self-portrait on canvas, a wall hanging art in batik and a fabric wrapped animal sculpture. 9-13/12 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm
Imaginative Doodling & Painting (Ages 6-9) Students will be inspired to unleash their imagination to draw, print and paint their creative ideas on papers and a big canvas. 9-13/12 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Christmas Clay Play Pokemon (Ages 7-10) Students will create their own collection of Pokemon with the new Sinnoh region, plus a Christmas theme creation on the last day. 9-13/12 (Mon-Fri) 1pm - 4pm (FULL)
Superhero Model Making & Painting (Ages 5-7) Students will use soft clay to create their preferred superhero model and paint the superhero on a small canvas. 16-20/12 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm
Christmas Mosaic Art (Ages 7-10) Students will use colourful mosaic tiles, Lego bricks, etc. to create pictures, decorate mirror frames and boxes for Christmas. 16-20/12 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (FULL)

Useful Christmas Clay Things (Ages 5-7/ 8-12) Students will use soft clay as a fun medium to create a functional table lamp and coin bank for the coming Christmas season. 16-20/12 (Mon-Fri) 9am - 12pm (Ages 5-7)

Registration Fees

  • Registration fee is $32.10.
  • This fee is applicable to the new applicants at NAFA.

Payment Terms

  • Payment is via cheque only and cashier's order should be crossed and made payable to the "Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts". Please write your name, NRIC/passport number and contact number on the reverse side of the cheque/cashier's order.
  • Separate cheques to be issued for every course. The cheque will be returned if we are unable to form the class due to insufficient applicants.
  • Payment of fees should be made prior to the commencement of each course as stipulated in the fee structure.
  • All course fees include materials fee and GST.

Enrolment Steps

  1. Download the registration form here or obtain it at JA Office located at NAFA campus 1, Wing B level 3, room 3-20 during office hours.
  2. Call or walk in to check class availability.
  3. Complete and submit the registration form together with cheque payment.
  4. Receive email confirmation 2 weeks before commencement of the class.
  5. Start class as scheduled.
