Wahwah graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, School of Drama in 1998. After graduating, she worked as a freelancer and drama teacher at various primary and secondary schools. In 2003, she was awarded the Hong Kong Theatre Association’s Hong Kong Drama Scholarship to further her studies at the Theatre Training and Research Programme (TTRP) in Singapore (now known as the Intercultural Theatre Institute (ITI)). She is trained in modern acting, Noh theatre (from Japan), Beijing opera (from China), Wayang wong (from Indonesia) and Kutiyattam (from India).
During her time in Hong Kong in 2007, she worked with various theatre companies, and also co-founded the Acting Research Centre (Hong Kong) to explore the possibilities of incorporating traditional and contemporary theatre theories to develop a training system for actors. In 2010, she moved to Singapore, and worked with The Theatre Practice as a full-time resident artist from 2010 to 2016. Since 2017, she has been a full-time resident artist at Paper Monkey Theatre.
