Ethan is a fashion designer who has a background in both business and design. Hailing from a family of dressmakers, he decided to pursue a career in fashion only during his years at Business School.

Upon graduating from NTU, Ethan bought a one-way ticket to New York to study at the prestigious Parsons School of Design. During his time in New York, he interned for renowned fashion brands such as ALEXANDER WANG, Zac Posen, Derek Lam, Araks, theory and Helmut Lang, while conducting business consulting.

Since returning home to Singapore, Ethan has consulted startups and helped them build their collections. He started teaching as a full-time lecturer in 2016 at First Media Design School, handling a wide range of subjects including Construction, Patternmaking, Fashion History, Textile Design, Fashion Marketing, Fashion Merchandising, and Draping. He also teaches with the bachelor degree programme in First Media Design School.

His expertise lies in approaching fashion from artistic and commercial perspectives, a skill that he strongly believes should be nurtured in students right from the beginning. He would like students to have a global perspective of the fashion industry and develop themselves to be able to compete globally.

Ethan is currently working with a few collaborators to explore the identity of Singapore’s fashion industry.
