Students from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) have collaborated with Ang Chin Moh Funeral to design innovative funeral arrangements that cater to various religious needs. These designs incorporate technology and modern elements, aiming to provide a more contemporary approach to funerals. The designs reflect changing mourning preferences, with simpler and more straightforward funeral services becoming increasingly popular, even among religious and non-religious groups. Chen Xuanle, NAFA third-year student in the Interior and Exhibition Design programme, mentioned that they have observed a change in people's perceptions of funerals as times have evolved. Therefore, they hope to create funeral designs that are more in line with the contemporary era. Meanwhile, Eve, the Manager of the Ang Chin Moh Funeral, acknowledges the shift towards simpler and more contemporary funerals, irrespective of religious affiliations, as families become smaller. She suggests that these innovative designs could become more accepted in the future. The designs will be on display at the NAFA campus as part of Singapore Design Week till 1 Oct.
