As the Harper’s BAZAAR Asia NewGen Fashion event came back from the two-year pandemic related restrictions, LASALLE College of the Arts graduate Serina Lee won this year’s top prize and award of $10,000 cash along with sponsorship for a one-year course on the London campus of Istituto Marangoni, worth over $50,000 in itself. Moreover, Serina’s collection will be on full display in an upcoming Harper’s BAZAAR Singapore fashion spread and will go on sale as a capsule collection at Design Orchard and OneOrchard.Store early in 2023.

At the same competition, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts graduate and Bazaar Academy Choice Awards 2022 finalist Joe Kean has clinched the crowd’s favourite award for his collection titled Shapes Of Human, Human Of Shapes, which drew in the inspiration of the human form. “The human body is very interesting to discover. I want to incorporate shapes and silhouettes to distort the human body without taking away its beauty,” said the 24-year-old, who is inspired by the different forms and possibilities of the human body, from contortionists to human deformities. His advice for budding designers: “Be bold. Take every opportunity you get and just trust the journey. Don’t be afraid of taking that leap of faith.”
